House Principles

How we
share the space.

Out of Office is a calm place to get good work done, with room to connect when the moment feels right.

Everyone is welcome

We want Out of Office to be a place where everyone feels safe, respected and comfortable.

Discrimination, harassment or exclusion of any kind have no place here. We treat each other with respect, regardless of background, identity, appearance, ability, belief, gender or sexual orientation.

Work comes first

During regular working hours, we keep the main workspace calm and considerate. Conversations are welcome, but should stay at a level that allows everyone around you to focus.

Be mindful during calls

Short, quiet calls are fine at your desk.

When you expect to speak for longer, lead a meeting or join a particularly active call, please use the Focus Zone or step outside.

The most important rule is to notice the people around you and adjust accordingly.

Share the Focus Zone

The Focus Zone is available for calls and periods of uninterrupted work.

As there is only one dedicated place, please limit your use to a maximum of one hour when others are waiting. Calls take priority when the space is needed.

Headphones mean focus

Someone wearing headphones may be concentrating. Please avoid interrupting them unless it is important.

Music, videos and voice messages should always be played through headphones.

Make space for community

Out of Office is also a place to meet people, exchange ideas and spend time together, but participation is always optional.

Longer conversations and social moments are best enjoyed in the coffee area, outside, after working hours or during dedicated community events.

No one should ever feel expected to socialise while they are trying to work.

Leave the space ready for the next person

Please clear your desk, return cups and dishes, and leave shared areas as you would like to find them.

Speak up kindly

Different people need different conditions to work well. If something is disturbing you or makes you feel uncomfortable, please address it respectfully or speak to the Out of Office team.

A little consideration usually solves things quickly.
